THE RIGHT SUPPORT AT EACH STAGE

Start with your child’s learning journey.

All Math lessons are online. Tell us the level, school and current concern to help us recommend a suitable class.

P1–P6

Primary & PSLE Math

Build foundations. Make sense of word problems.

From number sense and fractions to ratio, percentage and geometry, develop the understanding to choose a method and show clear working. Upper-primary students can build heuristics through BBTP and exam readiness through CBC.

S1–S4

Secondary G2 & G3 Math

Connect concepts. Strengthen exam execution.

Apply algebra, geometry and data skills across varied questions. Guidance, pacing and challenge follow the student’s subject level. For E-Math or A-Math enquiries, tell us the subject and current topics.

Y1–Y4

Secondary IP Math

Think flexibly. Reason with depth.

Support follows the school’s topic sequence and assessment expectations. Explore unfamiliar problems, compare approaches and develop clear mathematical arguments. Share recent schoolwork so we can discuss a suitable plan.

WHY MATH AT SLC?

Math is a language.
Understanding comes before solving.

At SLC, the School of Language and Communication, we see a natural connection between language and Math. Students need to understand what a question is saying, translate relationships into mathematical form and communicate a clear solution.

A child may know how to calculate yet struggle to make sense of a word problem. Our Math teaching connects comprehension with mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies, helping students move from reading the question to explaining a reasoned answer.

Read for meaning

Identify what is known, what is being asked and how the quantities relate.

Translate into Math

Turn words into a model, diagram or equation that makes the relationship clear.

Explain the reasoning

Use precise mathematical language and clear working to show why the solution makes sense.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

“My child understands the lesson.
Why do the exam questions feel so different?”

Following a solution is one step. Choosing an approach and carrying it through independently takes practice of its own.

“I don’t know how to start.”

Learn to break down the question, see the relationships and choose a useful first step.

“This question looks different.”

Recognise familiar concepts in unfamiliar questions and adapt a strategy to fit.

“I knew it, but lost the marks.”

Work on recurring errors, clear working and pacing so understanding holds up under exam pressure.

CHOOSE YOUR NEXT STEP

Two programmes.
One goal: stronger Math performance.

Choose the support that matches your child’s next learning need. Our team can help you decide.

BBTPPROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS

CBCEXAM PERFORMANCE

Mathematics

Prepare to perform when every mark and minute counts.

  • Timed drills to strengthen speed, accuracy and pacing
  • Mixed-topic practice to sharpen method selection
  • Advanced questions with focused review and follow-up

BBTP · MATH HEURISTICS

A clear approach.
A more confident problem solver.

Make challenging problems manageable.

BBTP teaches Math heuristics topic by topic. Students learn to analyse the information, model the relationships and select a suitable strategy, rather than depend on a remembered question pattern.

For students who struggle, explicit teaching provides a dependable starting point. For stronger students, comparing approaches develops flexible thinking and more effective solutions.

Build my child’s problem-solving skills
  1. 01

    See the thinking

Explore a worked example and why each step makes sense.

  2. 02

    Think aloud

Explain an approach, compare methods and reflect on the reasoning.

  3. 03

    Try it independently

Apply the strategy to a new problem with fewer prompts.

  4. 04

    Review and refine

Use feedback to correct a misunderstanding and strengthen the next attempt.

CBC · FOCUSED EXAM PREPARATION

Understanding is the foundation.
Exam performance is the next step.

CBC brings method selection, accuracy and time management together. Students practise using what they know when questions are mixed, the demands rise and the clock is running.

Timed drills with a purpose

Practise efficient methods and a steadier pace. Review where time was lost and how to work more accurately.

Mixed-topic exam practice

Choose a method without a topic heading giving it away. Connect ideas and move confidently between question types.

Advanced-question coaching

Learn how to begin a demanding question, connect several steps and present a complete, reasoned solution.

Error patterns turned into action

Track recurring mistakes, practise the specific weakness and revisit it in a different question. Brief progress updates keep parents informed about the next priority.

Focused coaching. Purposeful practice. Feedback that shapes the next step.
