P1–P2: make ideas concrete
Develop number sense, relationships and clear explanations through manageable examples.
Online lessons that help your child understand the method, explain their working and tackle new questions with confidence.
Online teaching that connects understanding to independent problem solving, from early number concepts to PSLE preparation. We adapt explanations and representations to the child’s current learning needs.
Develop number sense, relationships and clear explanations through manageable examples.
Connect diagrams, models and equations to the problem rather than selecting a method by memorised keywords.
Build PSLE problem-solving readiness, show coherent working and check whether the answer makes sense in context.
When a word problem changes slightly, a memorised procedure may stop working. We look at whether the learner can interpret the language, represent the relationships and explain a valid method. Calculation fluency matters, but it is only one part of successful problem solving.
| Component | Weight / marks | Format |

The child reacts to a keyword rather than the relationship between quantities.
Describe known and unknown quantities, draw a representation and explain the chosen operation.
The method is remembered as a picture rather than a way of reasoning.
Compare similar-looking problems with different relationships and choose a representation deliberately.
The final answer conceals an incomplete or inconsistent method.
Label quantities, show the sequence of reasoning and check units and reasonableness.
Ask your child to explain why a step works before checking the answer. A useful sign of progress is being able to solve a related problem without copying the original layout.
The same subject changes as a child grows. Choose the school level first, then discuss current work, confidence and the next learning goal.
