S1–S2: secure the foundations
Strengthen algebra, geometry, number relationships and explaining a method. Use errors to distinguish a concept gap from a careless step.
Online lessons that help your child understand the method, explain their working and tackle new questions with confidence.
Core concepts, clear working and progressive SEC preparation. We teach G2 alongside G3 with adjusted pacing, step-by-step guidance and carefully selected stretch tasks; the registered subject level still determines the examination requirements.
Strengthen algebra, geometry, number relationships and explaining a method. Use errors to distinguish a concept gap from a careless step.
Model a method, practise in small steps and reduce prompts as understanding grows. Use relevant G3 stretch work without substituting a G3 paper format for G2 requirements.
Connect topics, compare methods and work through less familiar tasks. Revise using patterns in recent marked work, not just the total score.
We teach G2 alongside G3, adapting explanations, task difficulty, pacing and feedback to G2 students’ needs. We aim to strengthen confidence at school while building towards the SEC examinations early—not by rushing through harder papers, but by making challenging learning manageable.
Begin with the learner’s actual G2 syllabus, current schoolwork and recurring gaps. Break a task into clear steps and model the reasoning before independent practice.
Use carefully selected G3-level material where it deepens a shared skill. Add prompts, worked examples or vocabulary support; reduce support as understanding becomes more secure.
Look for clearer explanations, fewer repeated errors and more independent responses to new tasks. Prepare progressively for SEC demands while protecting time to consolidate learning.
Math: secure the concept and a clear worked method first, then use a carefully chosen stretch problem to develop application and explanation.
The Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) replaces the former GCE O-Level and N-Level examinations. G3 follows the former O-Level standard, while G2 follows the former N(A)-Level standard. We teach G2 students alongside G3 with extra guidance, a suitable pace and more challenging practice when they are ready. Lessons build school confidence while preparing each student for their own subject level.

The assessment tables below help you see what your child is working towards. They cover the labelled PSLE, Higher Chinese or SEC G3 paper. For G2 learners, we adjust the teaching and practice to their subject requirements.
A student can be accurate in a familiar exercise yet struggle when algebra, geometry or data appear in an unfamiliar context. We distinguish conceptual misunderstanding from notation errors, weak problem interpretation and incomplete working. Each needs a different teaching response.
| Component | Weight / marks | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Paper 1 | 50% | 2 h 15 min; 90 marks |
| Paper 2 | 50% | 2 h 15 min; 90 marks; extended real-world problem |
Approved calculators are allowed in both papers. The syllabus spans number and algebra, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability. This is Mathematics, not Additional Mathematics.

A familiar symbol triggers a method that does not fit the question.
Explain the quantities and assumptions, then justify why the formula or theorem applies.
A finance, graph or measurement question overwhelms the student before calculation begins.
Define variables, extract constraints and translate information into equations, diagrams or graphs.
Intermediate steps or explanations are omitted.
Write a chain of working another person can follow and interpret the result in the original context.
Ask what would change if one condition changed. This reveals whether the method is understood or simply recalled.
The same subject changes as a child grows. Choose the school level first, then discuss current work, confidence and the next learning goal.
